Many years ago now I was blessed and privileged to see a full manifestation of a lady in spirit. It was a summer afternoon - no sitting round a table at midnight here! What to me adds to the validity and integrity of my experience was that this was a lady I did not know while she was in this life. So there was no wishful thinking about a much-missed figure in my life. I was not alone at the time. The person I was with saw this vision too. We were looking at some photographs - my friend's mum was seeking out those embarrassing ones of her when she was little as mothers are wont to do - and we suddenly came upon one of this lady's sister, my friend's aunt, who I knew had passed away about three years earlier. Suddenly I was aware that someone else was in the room, sitting on the sofa, so I instinctively looked up to see who it was - and there sat this very same lady, elegant and beautiful, smiling gently. She appeared to be somewhat transparent and almost black & white - a bit like an old photographic plate, in a way, but definitely 3D and definitely not static.
I wrote about it in rhyme - i am a poet and it seemed somehow appropriate. The feeling of peace and joy that arrived with her was overwhelming. Here is my poem:
LADY IN SPIRIT
Beautiful lady so near to me, clear to me
A smile of serenity plays on your face
Proof of the life that exists beyond this one
A manifestation of spiritual grace
I never knew you when you were on this side
Though I know your daughter, your sister and niece
I silently gaze at your delicate presence
Aware of sensations of calmness and peace
What brings you here today, lady in spirit?
Is it the photograph clutched in my hand?
So many questions I wish I could ask you
But if you could tell me, would I understand?
You look just the same, although slightly transparent
Peaceful and still as you sit in the chair
I hardly dare breathe and my heartbeat is pounding
If I even blink now, will you still be there?
I turn to your sister just for a moment
Here eyes, wide with wonder, confirm what I knew
It wasn’t a dream or my imagination
But a shared new experience – she saw you too!
But as we look back it’s too late, you have vanished
Gone in an instant, just as you came
Your sister and I remain motionless, silent
Then softly and sweetly, she whispers your name
* * * * * * * * *
Many years have passed by since I saw you, dear lady
But the day of your visit is fresh in my mind
You opened my eyes to the wonders of spirit
The strength of the ties that forever will bind
The truth of the afterlife cannot be doubted
The knowledge brings comfort when all hope is gone
Death has no meaning, it’s just a transition
We pass through it gently, adjust, and move on….

I hope this will be of interest.
